Group Services

In addition to "traditional" psychotherapy services, I also offer group psychotherapy services as well.  Group therapy services may be a helpful form of treatment when there are several individuals who share the same, perhaps shorter-term, therapeutic objective.  In some cases the shared "symptoms" of the individuals in the group are acute in nature; such as grief in reaction to the loss of a loved one, learning to manage angry feelings in a healthy manner, or building social/interpersonal skills.  Other times, group services may serve as an enhancement to one's previously established individual therapy.

The following is a list of group therapy services for Children and Adolescents that I offer:

  • Children's Grief (for ages 8 to 10)
  • Adolescent Grief (for ages 11 to 13)
    • In most cases, the Adolescent Grief group serves as an enhancement to individual treatment; however, it is not a requirement.
    • Individual assessment prior to enrolling in either group is required to identify any conditions or situations that may complicate the grief process for the individual.
    • Each group meets weekly for 8 weeks from 4:00 pm to 4:45 pm; start and end dates TBA, as well as the day of the week (typically four group sections are offered per year; Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer)
  • Adolescent Social Skill Building (for ages 11 to 13)
  • Teenager Social Skill Building (for ages 14 to 17)
    • Individual assessment prior to enrolling in either group is required to rule out mental health issues that would generally require individual treatment.
    • Each group meets weekly for 6 weeks from 4:00 pm to 4:45 pm; start and end dates TBA, as well as the day of the week (typically this group will have three group sections offered per year; Fall, Winter, and Spring

The following is a list of group therapy services for Adults that I offer:

  • Anger Management
    • This is a 10 week group offered to adults who demonstrate difficulty in managing their angry feelings.  The purpose of this group is to assist the individual in understanding the nature of their anger and learning skills to help manage their angry feelings and associated behaviors.
    • PLEASE NOTE: If the individual presents having a history of engaging in violent actions against other people, a different course of treatment may be indicated.
    • Each prospective group member must complete an individual assessment prior to recommendation for the group. I retain the right to determine if this group is an appropriate referral for prospective members (see above). In some cases, more intensive treatment may be indicated, such as individual psychotherapy prior to referral to the group; or individual psychotherapy as a corollary to one's previously established individual treatment.
    • A certificate of completion will be issued to all members who participate in all 10 group sessions; these certificates may be submitted to court, Social Services, probation, or parole as proof of completion.
    • Time/Dates of group TBA, however, typically this group will have four sections offered per year: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer
  • Family Violence Perpetrators
    • This is an intensive, 26 week group offered to adults who have been indicated as a perpetrator of domestic violence.  Often, these participants are mandated by various court, Social Service, or law enforcement agencies.
    • Each prospective group member must complete an individual assessment prior to recommendation for the group.
    • Individuals who are participating in this group must also attend individual psychotherapy sessions at regularly scheduled intervals throughout the course of their group treatment.
    • A certificate of completion will be issued to all members who participate in all 26 weekly group sessions; these certificates may be submitted to court, Social Services, Probation, or Parole as proof of completion.
    • If the individual is currently involved in the legal system and treatment is mandated, a Release of Information is required in order to maintain contact with court, Probation, Social Services, or Parole.
    • Time/Dates of group TBA; however, typically this group will have two sections offered per year: Fall and Spring

Cost for Groups
  • Child and Adolescent Groups (All):      $15.00 per weekly group session
  • Adult Anger Management:                    $25.00 per weekly group session
  • Family Violence Perpetrators:                $30.00 per weekly group session

Please note that the cost of each group session is in addition to the cost of the initial assessment. In some cases, the cost of the initial assessment may be discounted; please contact for details.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING ALL GROUP TREATMENT:  I require a minimum of four individuals to be enrolled in each group in order for sessions to begin. In cases of under-enrollment, the group may be cancelled or delayed until minimum enrollment is achieved.
